Tune in October 14th for Episode 2 as Mike rocks a show at Duke with Wale and heads to Virginia Tech with superproducer/partner-in-crime Benny Blanco."

Southerngold

This mixtape is worth the post just for the artwork. As of late, hip-hop artists have been using Santigold on a lot of their music (Jay-Z - Brooklyn Go Hard and Drake - Unstoppable for example) so you can understand the motivation for these blends. Download here.

Chiddy Bang

Chiddy Bang is a rap and electronica group consisting of four college freshman hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Usually the aforementioned genres are hard to mesh, but this group does it effortlessly and the result is amazing. Their songs sample a wide range of artists: Radiohead, Passion Pit, MGMT, and even Tom Waits. Don't be surprised if you start hearing them on your local college campus in the near future. You can download five of their tracks here. My favorites are "Because" and "Kids."

Jay-Z - Death of Autotune (prod. by NoID)

This is the street single off of Jay-Z's upcoming Blueprint 3. The second single for the radio will be titled "Off That" and will feature Drake.

Lil Wayne - Kobe Bryant

"Kobe doin work, 2-4 on my shirt/ He da greatest on da court, I'm da greatest on da verse"

Weezy dedicates a track to one of our generation's greatest athletes. This kind of reminds me of the Mike Tyson track he did a while back.

All Over the Web Like I Got 8 Legs

A little late on this but I'm still posting it for anyone who hasn't seen it. This movie is gonna be sooo dopeee!!! I remember reading this ish all the time when I was little. I think I'm going to go pick up a copy down at B & Nobes this weekend. Spike Jonze has directed many music videos such as this classic as well as this and he just shot the video for Kanye's See You in My Nightmares. His films include Being John Malkovich, Three Kings, and Adaptation. Below are some distractions for you.

Forza Sounders!!!

If you have been living under a rock for the past month you might not have heard about the Sounders FC: Seattle's UNDEFEATED professional soccer team. Last Saturday, the Sounders became 2-0 with a win over Real Salt Lake (watch the highlights here). They continue their campaign this Saturday in Toronto. Since you are most likely not traveling there, you can watch the game on Fox Soccer Channel at 1:00 PM pacific time.

I strongly recommend that anyone who has yet to attend a game do so in the near future. The MLS isn't considered the highest competition in the world and takes a lot of criticism from soccer fans from all over the world, even stateside. People tend to forget that the league is young (16 years old) while top flight leagues such as the Spanish La Liga and English Football League have been around since 1929 and 1888 respectively (note: the English Premier League was created in 1992 and consisted of the top 22 teams from the Football League).

It takes time to build a competitive sports league yet the Sounders are proving that it is possible for the MLS to compete with both the NBA and NFL by selling out season tickets and consecutive home games, not to mention the excitement and buzz they have created here in Seattle. In 2011, two expansion teams will be added in Portland and Vancouver, BC. This will allow fans to travel to away games to support their teams and it will also reignite the rivalries from the USL days.

This could be the beginning of a very bright future for not only Seattle and its Sounders, but the MLS and soccer as a whole in the United States. Don't you want to be able to tell people in 20 or 30 years that you were in the stands to watch the arrival of the beautiful game up close and personal? I know I do.

Asher Roth - Lark On My Go-Cart

WARNING: DON'T SLEEP ON ASHER ROTH

This is the latest leak from Ash's debut album Asleep in the Bread Aisle coming out on April 20th (4/20) and he most definitely goes hardddddddd on it. A lot of people have been hating on him labeling him an eminem impersonator but this track proves that he's got some rhyming skills. Download it here thanks to Nahright. Check out below for a live performance of Blunt Cruisin.

Kicking It

"In the summer of 2006, while the football world's attention was focused on Germany, thousands of players around the globe were training hard and competing to be part of another world cup...The Homeless World Cup.

It began in 2001 as a wild idea to give homeless people a chance to change their lives through an international street soccer competition. Five years later, the annual Homeless World Cup was an internationally recognized sports competition.

500 homeless players from 48 nations would ultimately be selected to represent their country in Cape Town, South Africa—coming from such disparate parts of the world as war torn Afghanistan, the slums of Kenya, the drug rehab clinics of Dublin, Ireland, and the streets of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Win or lose, it would be the journey of a lifetime."

Learn more at the film's website.

The-Dream - Love vs. Money

This Tuesday The-Dream is dropping his sophomore album Love Vs. Money. His first CD was definitely DoPe but he says that "this album is just gonna be the first album on crack." He teamed up with the same producers from before and it features collaborations with Kanye West, Mariah Carey, and Lil Jon. You can listen to the entire album on imeem here and check out the video for the first single below.

Pac-10 CHAMPSSSSSSS

Brockman was a correspondent on ESPN's Rome is Burning this past week. I'm excited that we clinched the Pac-10 Championship outright but now its time to do work on a national level... make sure to watch the Huskies turn their swag ONNNNNNNN this month.

Sounders FC

(What Qwest Field will look like on game day)
Although the Sounders opening game sold out this morning, there is still hope for anyone trying to purchase a ticket.  Apparently, the Sounders have officially sold more season tickets than any other MLS team. This is extremely impressive considering they have yet to play a game and it shows that the Northwest has love for the Beautiful Game. A lot of this has to do with the Sounders unique business approach and also Seattle's drought in regards to quality sports teams as of late.
Here are some Freddie Ljungberg highlights if you haven't seen him play. Ely Allen, Seattle native and Washington Alum, is in Argentina on trial with the team right now so hopefully we'll see a Husky get some time on the pitch come opening day. He earned Pac-10 Player of the Year honors while at the UW.  Check him out below.

EXCLUSIVE: Dubtitled - Dangerous Minds

Here is a Mr. October Exclusive from the Seattle hip-hop group Dubtitled. Dubtitled consists of two rappers, S. Dot and The Urban Myth, and  a producer, Dr. J. According to their MySpace they sound like "knowledge manifested through dope song."

Day 'n' Nite Remixes

FINALLY the original version gets a video. I was never a fan of the Crookers european garbage. This song was recorded back in '07 and has been floating around in hip-hop purgatory for a while now. Its about time it gets the national attention it deserved.

Most of you already now about Scott Mescudi so I want to direct your attention below to some popular remixes that have made there rounds through the Blogosphere. There are a bunch but  Jim Jones and Trey Songz versions are probably the best. Shout out to my cousin Chris for bringing these to my attention.

Ryan Leslie

This guy is nuts: at 15 he enrolled in Harvard and graduated at 19 with a degree in Government and Economics. He's a singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist (meaning he can basically play any instrument). Check out his other studio sessions here and if you like this check out Diamond Girl. His self-titled album, Ryan Leslie, is out right now.

The-Dream ft. KanYe West - Walking on the Moon

Off of his sophomore album  Love vs. Money, scheduled for a March 10 release.

Happy Birthday K Mac

Twenty-two years ago from today the world was blessed with Kevin MacDonald. Words cannot describe how much I miss him. The funny thing about this blog is that Kevin would have probably been the first person to give me shit about it be because we always argued about music. I miss arguing about everything from soccer to kanye west with him, I miss staying up with him until 5 in the morning, I miss seeing him run up on stage and dance during Greek Week, I miss convincing him to come play soccer with us in his basketball shoes, I miss his laugh and his ability to make a whole room light up with his fluorescent shirts and personality to match. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about you and remember some random memory that makes me smile and be grateful for the time we had together. Today is your day K Mac, I love you bro.

Glory Days

Remember when the Glove and the Reign Man took what many consider to be one of the greatest NBA teams of all time to game 6? Hopefully basketball comes back to Seattle, but for the time being we can enjoy watching B Roy do work in Rip City and  watch Clay Bennett's Durantulas (and not the Sonics) sit comfortably at the bottom of their conference.

Emo is Dead

This t-shirt is from the brand Beasted... pretty dope concept. There is also another one of Sir Charles check them out here.

The Cool Kids - Pennies

This is pretty old but I love this video. When Fish Ride Bicycles is dropping soon and according to Chuck Inglish it sounds like "silver back gorillas playing full contact beach volleyball." Look out for the pre-album mixtape with DJ Drama titled Gone Fishing.
