On June 12th, 1970, Pittsburgh Pirate's pitcher Doc Ellis pitched a no-hitter against the San Diego Padres. No-hitters are one of the rarest achievements for a pitcher: only 263 have been thrown in the MLB since 1875, an average of two per year. Only five pitchers have recorded over two no-hitters in their careers. So what could make Dock Ellis' achievement more special than it already is? He was on LSD.
